Trip to Downtown Chicago for over $17,000

In January 2025, the Oak Brook Park District staff and Commissioners attended the annual IPRA (Illinois Park & Recreation Association) conference in downtown Chicago at the Hyatt Regency. 28 Park District staff members and Commissioners attended. The total cost of the trip with overnight hotel stays, food, etc. to taxpayers was over $17,000. Why do so many staff members and Commissioners need to attend?
