Oak Brook Voters Missed Opportunity to Elect New Park Commissioner

A previous Oak Brook Park District Commissioner John O’Brien moved to another state after he got a job outside of Illinois, but stayed on as Park Commissioner for 16 meetings, from January 20, 2014 through April 20, 2015, until after the next election. As reported by the Chicago Tribune, “If O’Brien had resigned prior to the December filing deadline, his unexpired term would have been on the April 7 election ballot.”

Many Oak Brook residents spoke out against this, but the Park District board and now President Knitter and Executive Director Kosey ignored them. Instead, they allowed Mr. O’Brien to participate remotely as referenced to in the article.

This action prevented Oak Brook voters from voting for their desired elected representative, and the same people who allowed this to happen are those endorsing and supporting my opponent today.

Let’s reverse this Oak Brook Park District culture of disrespecting Oak Brook residents by standing strong and voting for Tina Chan for Oak Brook Park District Commissioner at the April 1 election. Tina will put Oak Brook Residents First.

See below for the articles that describe the situation.
