Fine Dining on Taxpayer Dime?

Original Publish Date: 12/8/2024. Publicly Released on 1/16/2025.

Oak Brook Park District staff (and perhaps commissioners) dine at some of the finest restaurants in Oak Brook, and charge their meals to the Park District credit card (called purchase card, or p-card). We taxpayers pick up the bill. Restaurants include Fogo De Chao, Gibsons, Perry’s Steakhouse, Michael Jordan’s Restaurant, Antico Posto, Lucca Osteria, Wildfire Restaurant, etc. One Antico Posto meal was ordered via DoorDash food delivery. DoorDash to the Park District for a total cost of $65.50?

Update on January 20, 2025: A few days after this website was publicly released, the Oak Brook Park District Board President stated during the January 20, 2025, board meeting that the Fogo De Chao expenses were tied to certain programs run by the Park District. This confirms that the charges at Fogo De Chao were made. Oak Brook resident taxpayers contribute $6 million annually to the Park District, which subsidizes all programs. These programs are primarily attended by non-residents and would not be possible without taxpayer funding. This is an example of an expense or topic that Oak Brook taxpayers should know about.

Also, included some smaller purchases at Beatrix or maybe a meal at Grill 89? What is the policy for staff getting meals or treats paid for while working on the job?

These are just the higher end restaurants. It seems Fogo De Chao is a favorite over the last two years.
