$2.8 million in Full-time Salaries, plus $1 million in Benefits a year
Park District salaries and benefits in 2024 totaled $6.3 million, which included $1 million in benefits and $2.8 million in salaries paid to full-time staff.

Note: Full-time headcount is presented at 45 employees based on payroll data obtained through a FOIA request; however, if you look at the annual financial report, it is 40 employees. The difference likely is due to the way full-time equivalents are calculated. The below chart has the same issue. Base data for both charts were provided by the Oak Brook Park District through a FOIA request.
Nevertheless, when you look across time, full-time headcount has increased 82%, and full-time salaries have increased 132% over the last 14 years. Yet, Oak Brook resident census population has declined 8% over that same time period.

So, the Park District is hiring more people, paying themselves more salary; only to serve an Oak Brook resident population that is declining?
Non-residents, who pay ZERO taxes to the Oak Brook Park District, make up the vast majority of users at the Park District.
